休息是为了走更长远的路

Created:

It’s been almost ten days since my last post. It might look like I’ve fallen off the wagon again — but that’s not the case. The past month has just been... eventful.

A while back, I joined a casual floorball game — something I hadn’t played in years and was really looking forward to. Unfortunately, midway through, I fractured my forefoot and ended up in a cast. The recovery period wasn’t exactly pleasant, especially when paired with some work-related burnout that had been creeping up on me. To be honest, things weren’t looking too great for a while.

But that downtime taught me something simple yet important: rest is part of progress. Healing — both physically and mentally — takes time, and that’s okay. Now that my cast is off, I’m slowly getting back on my feet, one small step at a time.

To help with recovery, I’ve been trying to build small, consistent habits. I recently explored a few wellness tools through a LinkedIn Premium promotion that included access to Headspace and Brilliant. They’ve been surprisingly helpful in easing back into focus and mindfulness. I’ve also been experimenting with using LLMs to get structured advice on how to manage burnout and find a better rhythm.

On the creative side, I decided to revisit something from my university days — a simple board game called Breakthrough (Wikipedia). It was part of one of my first computing modules when I was pursuing my Physics degree. Back then, I implemented it in MATLAB but never quite finished the computer-player feature — a small, nagging loose end that stuck with me ever since. So this time, I’m rebuilding it from scratch (or rather, in React). It’s still a work in progress — the UI is rough and the game logic’s incomplete — but it feels good to be creating again. You can check it out here: react-breakthrough

All in all, I think things are starting to look up.

休息不是终点,而是为了更好地前进。
适当的休息,不只是为了走更长远的路,也是为了选择更好的路。
